Amgueddfa Cymru (Museum Wales) is the gathering of 8 national museums in Wales (UK). Together with Cardiff based studio Uned, we developed a set of headline and body copy typefaces to be used across the territory in print and digital communication as well as on site signage. Inspired by protest banners and printed posters from significant moments in Welsh history, the titling font is bold and confident, suited for strong headlines. It features a series of digraphs celebrating the Cymraeg (Welsh) language and its unique writing. The text family (5 weights + matching italics) pays tribute to the industrial era and the early sans serif metal types that appeared at the time.
